After all the last posts to Tweak Internet Speed, Now It’s time for HWDOT to share ‘How to Tweak Download Speed’. When we browsed a good website and have to download any interesting files/videos, We had better use a FASTER Download program than the default / standard one.
One of the simplest but most effective things you can do to speed up download speed is using a download program manager that makes your downloads faster, that’s like a Download Accelerator Manager. One of the best download manager i know and i’m currently using is FlashGet. This is a freeware download manager for Microsoft Windows.
What is FlashGet?
(From the official page flashget.com)
FlashGet is a leading download manager and has the highest amount of users on the internet. It uses MHT(Multi-server Hyper-threading Transportation) technique, supports various protocols and has excellent document management features. FlashGet is a freeware without any adware or spyware.
FlashGet is specifically designed to address two of the biggest problems when downloading files: Speed and management of downloaded files.
Here some FlashGet Features:
+ Split files to download into sections, and download each section simultaneously.
+ Can download a sequence of files
+ Download a file from multiple locations
+ Integrated web crawler
+ Language support
+ Support HTTP, FTP, Microsoft Media Services, RTSP, BitTorrent and since version 1.8.4 eDonkey downloads
+ Manages downloaded files easily
+ Integration with web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Opera (Internet suite), Netscape, Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox, SeaMonkey, Avant Browser, Maxthon
FlashGet can split downloaded files into sections, downloading each section simultaneously, for an increase in downloading speed from 100% to 500%. This, coupled with FlashGet’s powerful and easy-to-use management features, helps you take control of your downloads like never before.
Here is a FlashGet Screenshot [resized for bandwidth :)],

So If you’ve ever waited forever for your files to download from a slow connection, or been cut off mid-way through a download - or just can’t keep track of your ever-growing downloads - FlashGet is for you.
The latest version is FlashGet v1.9.6. Update for V1.9.6
+ Add “FlashGet Recommends”
+ Optimized the BT module
+ Fixed the messy code in “new download” window
+ Other improvements
** You can PAUSE / RESUME any downloads too. You can now download FlashGet directly from the OFFICIAL page: http://www.flashget.com/en/download.htm

Hi! Welcome to

Hi!
I was seaching for help about FlashGet.
I have internet acces from several sources
but in one of it FlashGet always download no faster than 3KB/s when FireFox download the same file 100KB/s.
It is probably some firewall function.
I wander if I can make FlasGet pretend to be a real Firefox.
how to do it>
@Dzezik
Hello Dzezik, i don’t know exactly what’s the problem but maybe this setting will work:
> Try to set up its setting.. go to ‘Tools’ > ‘Speed Limit mode’ > choose ‘Unlimited’
..And, you may try my setting too:
Go to Tools > Options > Connection
> Limit, max simultaneous jobs : 8
> Connection Type/Speed, Try to choose “Other” and set: 2147000000 b/s
> Traffic usage in manual mode (b/s) 400000
> Traffic keep for each… 100000
If it’s for torrent download (BT)
Go to Tools > Options > BT
set Global Max Download/Upload Rate to “No Limit”
Note: the torrent download speed (p2p) generally depends on other’s connection speed (peers/seeds) too.

Go to Tools > Options > BT
set Global Max Download/Upload Rate to “No Limit”
IS THIS THE BEST SETTING FOR 8Mbps BROADBAND………
@richard
I don’t know the best setting for any xxMbps, if the default setting works, you had better use it. The setting above is just my ‘customized setting’ that may work for Dzezik.
Good post.
