How to Split and Join-Merge Files of any Type and Size

Have you ever tried to send a file of 60 MB to a friend? Using email this might not succeed, it is simply too LARGE! so How to solve this matter? It goes like this: We need to split the LARGE file into smaller chunks, which can be much more easily sent and stored, then the split parts should be able to be merged back together again, the original file is restored, and your friend enjoy your package.

In case you are looking for a 'FREE' program that will enable you to do this, HJSplit can be a good solution. HJ-Split created by in collaboration with various programmers is a popular set of freeware file-splitting programs.

HJSplit 2.3 is a freeware file-splitter and joiner for Windows XP, Vista, 2000, NT, 95, 98, ME. This program can even handle files which are larger than 10Gb! e.g. It allows you to split a 10 Gb file into 640 Mb parts, which can then be stored onto CD-Rom's by your CD-writer software. Of course HJSplit can join these split parts back together again, so that the original file is restored.

HJSplit is very reliable, simple, small (file size: 304 Kb) and easy to use. Does not need to be installed or complicated DLLs, it just consists of one '.exe' file. Just click on hjsplit.exe and the program starts.

You can Download HJSplit 2.3 for absolutely FREE directly from the OFFICIAL website here. HJSplit supports many platforms (Windows 3.x/95/98/ME/2000/NT/XP, DOS, Amiga, Java, etc.).

In case that HJSplit app above is not yet enough, you might be interested in FFSJ below,

FFSJ 3.3 - Free Fast File Splitter and Joiner. You are probably familiar with HJSplit - Freeware to Split and Merge Files of any Type and Size, Here's now another contender i've recently used, called FFSJ. Yeah, both apps have same functionalities, but FFSJ claims that it is the fastest file splitter and joiner. After using FFSJ, it is much faster than HJSplit.

If you've ever used HJSplit (maybe as i mentioned before for sending large files via email?, files backup?, or etc), you must be familiar with files ending with .001, .002, .003, etc (those files are pieces from a larger file that has been split apart). Now with FFSJ, all those files are still supported (both split and join), Alternatively, you can split/join files ending with .__a, .__b, .__c, etc.

FFSJ by Le Minh Hoang consists of two main programs: File Splitter and File Joiner. File Splitter enables you to split a large file into small chunks which are easy to be sent and stored, while File Joiner allows you to join these split parts together so that the original file is restored.

FFSJ 3.3 Features
+ Very fast: FFSJ can optimize disk-cache and memory usage, this makes FFSJ 3-5 times faster than HJ-Split, WinSplit, MasterSplitter in both splitting and joining tasks. Of course, it is much faster than any compression program.
+ Simple: FFSJ works well on all Windows platforms. FFSJ-Lite doesn't need any requirement of installations or complicated DLLs. FFSJ-Standard has only one simple installation package for integrating FFSJ into shell context menu.
+ Small: Both FFSJ-Lite and FFSJ-Standard editions are small enough to fit on a floppy disk.
+ Easy to use: FFSJ has a friendly user-interface, it can be used to split any file. FFSJ-standard can also create its shell context menus in order to perform splitting and joining tasks directly from Windows Explorer.
+ Easy to be integrated: Since v3.0, FFSJ published its command-line interface. End-users can split/join multiple files using a .BAT file. Developers can write their own interface (in any language) to perform splitting/joining tasks from their applications.
+ Secure: FFSJ uses an advanced encryption algorithm to make your data much more secure from unauthorized access. Since v2.9, MD5 checksum algorithm has also been integrated to verify data integrity.
+ Compatible: FFSJ can join parts produced by HJ-Split.
+ Free and Safe: FFSJ-Lite and FFSJ-Standard are free and clean, both editions do not contain any form of adwares, spywares, viruses, trojans and backdoors.
